Sailing

Whilst all boats can be supplied as hull only, most include decks and other mouldings such as rudder, hatchs, locker lids, heads moulding., etc, Mouldings can be supplied loose or bonded together. All are available at any stage of completion and can be supplied to your specification. Prices are guides for typical stages.

Islander 17

Originally a dutch design adopted, adapted, and re-designed by Bill Mayo of “Buckler” fame. With a ballasted keel she is remarkably capable for her size. Historically rigged as bermudian or gunter her 50% ballast ration ensures that she is very stable for her size and whist she can have berths for four adults she is ideal for a small family who prefer stabiliuty to speed. Hull, deck, and internal mouldings.

Newland Family Cruiser

A design by Bill Dixon on the Rockhopper hull.

Catch 22

Designer unknown, but built by Atlanta as the Catch 22 & Fastnet 22, and then by Dell Quay as the SunCatch 22. Has been built with bolt on keel, bilge keel, and with centreplate swinging down from within ballasted bulge. Alan Newton designed a wing keel which was very successful. I also thing a drop keel would suit this boat, but that would mean re-designing the interior layout.

Hurley 22

Designed by Ian Anderson, no 22ft displacement yacht has a more impressive history. Many transatlantic and one Australian voyage prove this boats sea-worthiness. An active owners association is a good scource of information. Hull, deck, internal, and ancillariy mouldings.

Hurley 22 Twin Keel

Identical in all respects apart from twin keels with less draft. Ideal for drying moorings and east coast sailing.

Eider 23

A new boat developed by Blaxton Boats using the Kingfisher hull. Deck moulding with coachroof extending to topsides. Internal heads and galley mouldings.

Classic 23

Designed by Arthur Cooksey, I cannot imagine another displacement hull of this size that could slip through the water so easily. Whilst internal space is not top of this boats attributes it can still sleep four without problem with a pull-out galley under the bridgedeck and a porto-potty under the vee-berth. Hull, deck, headlining, and ancillary mouldings

Windjammer

A Quintessentially English traditional cruising yacht designed by Angus Primrose. Produced (I think only 4-6) by Deep Water Yachts in Scotland this boat has never had the publicity it deserves. I would be interested in any information about the company or any of the boats built, I believe, in the early eighties.

Kattegat

Colin Archer is revered as the designer of Norwegian sailing lifeboat. John Leather wrote the definitive biography of Colin Archer and listed all his designs, commented on them and descibed the worldwide influence of them. When Jim Spencer asked John Leather to draw the lines of a smaller version. Jim designed the deck layout, rig, and accomodation and the Kattegat was the result.

Verl 790

Designed by Ed Dubois (or maybe Stephen Jones !!!) Sold aslo as TS790 by Miller & Whitworth and Vixen 790 by the Humber Boat Company. A successful combination of performance and accomodation

Sailwind 27

Designed by Bergstrom & Ridder with a unique arrangement above the sheerline, with tumblehome to a raised deck level, giving a deep centre cockpit and an interesting interior layout, including aft cabin, well lit by windows in the tumblehome. Originally designed for Hurley, who then ceased trading. Latham’s built quite a few, and one won six of its first seven races despite its roomy accomodation.

Spray 28/31

The Spray is renowned for its combination of space, stability, and seaworthiness. It is the first choice for many who aspire to deep water and long distance cruising, and liveaboard. Our mould was made to lines developed for double chine steel construction, whitch makes its volume for length quite astounding, and, incidentally simplifies fit-out considerably. We are now offering as ‘options’, either singly or together, modifications to bow and stern which are purely aesthetic and reduce somewhat the boxiness of the 28, which some people find attractive and others don’t! Together these ‘options’ add about 3ft to the L.O.D. hence the 31 version.

Falmouth Gaffer

An evocative design which has neen attributed to Percy Dalton, and possibly marketed previously as Tamarisk 29. The Falmouth Working Boat is one of this country’s most respected traditions and this boat allows you to be part of that tradition whether your interest is cruising or racing.

Verl 900

A Robert Clark design that is in many ways timeless. 30yr. old examples are still changing hands at £12/£20,000. We have added an optional walk-through transom and Ron Atherton designed a new internal layout with a headlining moulding determining bulkhead positions, thus simplifying fit-out. Heads moulding also included.

Spray 33/39

We are able to offer longer versions of the chine Spray up to about 36ft, plus, if requested, the aesthetic variations aforementioned. These extended Sprays are built individually to an agreed specification and length, beam, sheer, topside height, keel width, draft, deck lay-out, etc., are all up for discussion.

Red Admiral

This oustanding vessel is designed by Holmam & Pye. Similar to, but finer bowed than the Oyster 37, this boat has a well thought interior with a double-berthed aft of the companionway, and an aft cockpit.

Dawn 39

Designed by David Alan-Williams the Dawn was originally drawn as the Contessa 38 but has had the retrousse transom replaced with a more tradional one. This is a magnificent and impressive boat with a pedigree such that her performance, and sea-keeping qualities, can be taken for granted. But, a fit-out not to be taken lightly.

Vixen 1200

Designed by Ron Atherton. Having previously lived on a Spray 28, built while he was trading as the Humber Boat Company, Ron, and his wife Patty, decided to design and build their ideal cruising home, here at Blaxton. “Butterfly”, resplendant with her red sailed Junk rig is currently cruising around the British lsles. Starting with, and based, on the principles of the Spray, although with some fairly radical modifications, she has proved herself to be everything, or almost!
